SCULPTURE
Pseudoblepsis
In an era where our trust in instinct has been sacrificed for the comfort of habit, we have found ourselves merely living in nature, no longer a part of it. Our vision of the future often void of the wisdom of past experiences, or simply blurred by the anticipation of the moment. It is here that I introduce Pseudoblepsis, a Greek word meaning a condition of false or distorted vision.

The collection was constructed over a three year period and were all created by thoughtful arrangements of recycled materials. By meticulously juxtapozing these found objects, these creations take on a polysemic trait that allows many possibilities. But no matter what ones interpretation might be, a sense of ritual percolates in all of the pieces. For me this combination of ritual and ambiguity is important in capturing the viewer’s imagination and perhaps lure them into contemplation.
